Embracing the Motto of “Presence over Presents” for our 2022 Trip

Make Your Presence the Gift in 2022
Christmas is quickly approaching and panic gift-hunting season has well and truly kicked in at Time To Log Off HQ and most homes across America – we encourage everyone to pause for a minute to consider what our friends and families truly need this Christmas; by speaking directly with them we often discover it is not something tangible we could wrap in a bow and place under their tree!

Internet connections enable us to stay close with those we care for across thousands of miles away, which makes each holiday season very grateful. Unfortunately, this often diverts our focus away from parents right in front of us who desperately require our attention and consideration.

Every year, our #PresenceNotPresents digital detox challenge aims to remind us what truly matters in life – by turning off devices, setting down phones and giving our full focus and attention on those closest to us.

Let This Christmas Be About Presence Not Gifts

    TIP 1: Rediscover Analogue Pleasures
Reading books or playing board games is something your entire family will benefit from; not only children can take pleasure from this. Card and board video video games for older adults have recently seen an upsurge as we rediscover the pleasures of spending some quality time away from screens. Plan a night where everyone selects their preferred analogue game before collectively engaging in a few rounds – everyone may choose which analogue games appeal most!

Tip 2: Place Phone In A Drawer
Finding it hard to resist scrolling? Simplify things for you by keeping your smartphone or pill out of sight by placing it in a separate room in which only family members exist, like an office drawer – then see how much easier it becomes for everyone involved to stay present when being around each other!

Tip 3: Head Outdoors Some of our most meaningful conversations happen while strolling freely alongside loved ones without an agenda or destination in mind, connecting to nature is one of the greatest gifts nature provides us. When festive consuming and indulging become too much for anyone involved, lead an escape party outside in fresh air for all participants involved to relax with each other by proposing an escape party led by someone from another household to lead everyone for a stroll in nature for mental wellness purposes.

    Tip 4: Share Your Time
Not everyone in need this season has access to love and assistance from those they need it from. Consider looking around your community for anyone you could offer an extra helping hand for, possibly including as part of your own family gatherings. Taking an extra few moments out of each day by helping an elderly neighbour search the internet or clear off their front path could make an immense impactful difference on both their mental and physical well being.

As we celebrate 2022 and look ahead to 2023, let’s join together and participate in the digital detox movement to focus on presence rather than gifts this holiday season and beyond. Let’s find ways to stop scrolling and create deeper bonds with those we care for and love!
